About the book

The Full Body YES

We don’t have to treat our work and life as separate. Work shouldn't be a burden that takes place outside of our “real life.” It should, and can, be a source of happiness, like our hobbies and loved ones. It can be a source of development and authentic meaning, just like our schools and spiritual paths—if we work from the inside out. In The Full Body Yes, LinkedIn’s Head of Mindfulness and Compassion Programs Scott Shute shows how the evolution of organizations lies in the evolution of ourselves.

“After all, an organization is the sum of its people: we decide where, how, and why we work.”

Shute demonstrates how the journey to a working life of happiness and authentic meaning is fueled by compassion. Through guided activities to cultivate compassion for ourselves and others, we’ll move toward a work lifestyle that allows us to discover what is important to us, so that we can spend more time doing just that. Shute shows us how to recognize and empower the deeper part of ourselves, and measure our success by our own happiness. He gives us permission to develop and evolve at work, so we can truly love and serve all of life (including ourselves). Now doesn’t that sound better than grinding away at a 9 to 5, just waiting for it to end?

Everyone deserves to do work that makes them happy, that leaves them fulfilled. With compassion, we can all get there. We can change work from the inside out.
