Hi friend!
I’m glad you’re here.
I’ve always felt a pull between two worlds.
On one hand, I’ve spent over twenty years in leadership roles. I’ve run businesses and have been an entrepreneur. In a previous role I was the VP of customer operations for LinkedIn, leading a team of over a thousand people.
On the other hand, I’ve been a seeker for as long as I can remember. I’ve always felt a deep connection to something bigger than myself. I began a regular contemplation practice when I was thirteen. In college I started leading weekly sessions. It’s been a big part of my life ever since.
These two worlds fueled a question:
“how can I be successful at work and also be a good person? “
It wasn’t always obvious. At times I looked at some executives and thought to myself “Do you have to be a jerk to be a leader?” Of course, the answer is no. There’s a better way. I’ve seen it in action.
the action
We’re changing work from the inside out.
Acting with compassion is a success strategy for an individual, for building a high performing team, and even as a strategy for running a business. When we operate this way we have a deeper understanding of our co-workers and our customers, we build high performing teams, and we deliver products and services that make a meaningful difference in our customers’ lives.
I was the Head of Mindfulness and Compassion Programs at LinkedIn, and now I’m bringing the goodness that we’ve been building there to the rest of the world, by “mainstreaming mindfulness” and “operationalizing compassion.” In other words, bringing these ancient and everyday concepts to the business world in a way that is secular, inclusive, practical, and powerful. It’s the intersection of the modern and the ancient. Backed by thousands of years of practice, and now proven effective by science and research.

Utilizing mindfulness as a tool.
Mindfulness is another word for awareness; self-awareness, the awareness of others, the awareness of our situation. Our own self development is one of our most important duties. And…we don’t work or live in isolation. This is where compassion comes in. That self-development, that personal growth is not just for our own benefit – we blossom and thrive when we increase our capacity to serve all of life. This is true in life and it’s just as true in business.
I’ve spent the last few years trying to blend these two worlds together – mindfulness and compassion made practical for the world of work.
Publicly, I have several courses available that share these teachings.

Have you ever listened to your ‘gut’, even when your brain told you something else? Where does that wisdom come from? Each one of us can tap into something bigger, that part of us that already knows. And work? These days there’s not much separation from our ‘work life’ and the rest of our life. It’s just life. Meaning, work is just as valid of a place to develop ourselves as a monastery. Changing our work, changing the world…it starts with us.
We have an opportunity to shape the consciousness of our workplaces by introducing more compassion. Organizations are, after all, just a collection of individuals.
When we develop ourselves as individuals, the organization evolves too.

Photography
Giving back through our passions.
I love the way the light moves through the fog in the trees, the way the changing early morning pastels paint the clouds. I love traveling, being in these scenes, often at dusk or dawn, among the wild, partnering with nature to capture and express what is often hidden or unnoticed.
I also love sharing this work with others. For me, photography is the synthesis of the technical and the creative, pursuing and reflecting those precious moments between light and dark, day and night, the conscious and unconscious. This pursuit is fuel for soul.
I donate nearly all the profits from photography sales to charity. In 2022 I’m supporting NAMI-SF, an organization that helps bring mental health resources to those in need. View my online gallery and I’ll donate with every purchase.
